Blora Farmers Become Athletes Running to Chase Cuan||Blorainfo

BLORA – For Wartono (30), running is not just a sport. Starting as a hobby, the farmer from Blora became an athlete who often won various competitions. In fact, the father of one child now depends on his family’s economy from running competitions.

Wartono is a resident of Pentil Dukoh Hamlet, Karanggeneng Village, Kunduran District, Blora Regency, Central Java. He has won many medals, trophies and prizes.

At first it was just a hobby, just liked it. Not on the podium. It’s been delicious for a long time, continuity, so income. Finally, we have been involved until now,” Wartono said on Art 2 January 2023.

Wartono in the Sleman Temple Run 2022 he won 1st place in the 13K category. In the View of the Borobudur Temple Marathon 2022 in the 21K category, he won 3rd place. In the SangiRun Night Trail 2022 Sragen, he won 2nd place in the 25K category.

“Last year at the Kebumen Beach Half I won 2nd place, got Rp. 1.5 million. The other (competition) was also big. At Borobudur, 3rd place got Rp. 8 million, in Sleman got Rp. 7.5 million. Just imagine, that was one time event. That includes small prizes, there are many bigger ones,” said Wartono.

Wartono feels running is his small talent since childhood. His potential has been seen since school. In addition to independent practice, all the competitions he has taken are at his own expense. He started participating in competitions since 2017.

Even so, Wartono was still proud to represent his homeland Blora when he took part in the running championship managed by the Altetic sports under the KONI umbrella.
